What the elmo community is saying

What is elmo?

elmo is the easy way to go electric. We provide car subscriptions for electric cars exclusively. It’s our mission to make switching to an electric car smart, seamless and sustainable for everybody.

What are electric car subscriptions?

An electric car subscription is car leasing, reimagined.

We like to say it’s ‘the smarter way to lease a car’. One monthly payment includes everything you need to get on the road. Plus, unlike a traditional lease you are not fixed into a 2 or 3-year contract.

What’s included in an elmo electric car subscription?

One monthly payment includes vehicle hire, insurance, maintenance, tyres (fair wear & tear repair), congestion and vehicle excise duty, plus breakdown cover.

What is not included in the elmo electric car subscription?

Not much! But you can add a few extras such as a additional drivers or public charging access if you wish. As the driver, you are also responsible for any parking or speeding fines, charging your vehicle, and ensuring the vehicle is kept safe to drive.

How much could I save on an EV salary sacrifice scheme?

That depends on your salary and the electric car you would like to drive. Use our salary sacrifice calculator to see exactly how much money you could save each month through our salary sacrifice scheme.

What are the upfront costs?

With elmo there’s no deposit to pay, but we do take a few payments at the point of booking.

First month subscription

A flat delivery fee of £119 for drivers in England and Wales. Cars delivered to Scotland will pay an extra delivery fee.

Do I need to have a home charging point installed?

That’s completely up to you! If you have the facilities, a home charging point is a really convenient way to charge your car. Plus, it’s often cheaper than public charging points depending on your energy tariff.

Read our charging guide for more information.

What happens if the car is damaged in an accident?

Firstly, please make sure you are safe. Then make sure you let our claims team know of your incident as soon as you can. We’ll want to know exactly what happened and whether any third parties were involved. Plus, details of any eyewitnesses which we will pass on to our insurers.

Reasonable wear and tear as defined by the BVRLA’s Fair Wear and Tear Standards will not be charged for. Other damages outside of this policy could result in additional charges.

How do I know which electric car is best for me?

We know that choosing the perfect EV can be a tough decision! So, we developed a suitability tool specifically exactly for this purpose. It takes just 5 minutes to complete online and we’ll recommend our top picks based on the amount you drive, your driving habits and how you will charge the car.

But don’t worry if you don’t love the EV you choose, with elmo you can swap to any other model. Just give us one month’s notice and we’ll swap vehicles for you from the convenience of your home.

How long will it take for my car to be delivered?

Once you’ve passed all eligibility checks, your car can be delivered in as little as 1 week depending on availability!
