Audi e-tron
The Audi e-tron is a refined electric SUV, guaranteed to add an air of luxury to your family road trips – not to mention a burst of speed. It’s spacious and practical enough to fulfil a family’s everyday needs, but its polished finish is enough to make sure you’re travelling in style with every outing. As Audi’s first all-electric model, this is an EV that can go the distance – literally and figuratively.

Audi e-tron range and charging info

With the Audi e-tron 55 Quatro S Line you’ll get a real-world range of 225 miles, powered by its 95kWh battery. The Audi e-tron’s charging speed is particularly impressive, with a max charging speed of 155 kW. This means you can take your battery from 10% to 80%, the equivalent of 160 miles, in as little as 26 minutes. This is excellent news for regular long-distance drivers who may have been thinking the switch to an EV would be impossible.
As with all elmo subscriptions, the Audi e-tron comes with a Type 2 charging cable to fit its CCS charging ports. For the fastest charging speeds you’ll want to use a rapid charging point, but the slow and steady charging provided by a home charge point is where you’ll be able to save the most money compared to refuelling an ICE car. However, there’s no need to despair if a home charging point isn’t an option – there are tens of thousands of public charging points across the UK.
Audi e-tron interior

There’s no denying that the Audi e-tron’s interior has been designed with the utmost comfort in mind. Even better – this comfort doesn’t come at the cost of practicality. The leather seats, the front two of which are heated, all have additional lumbar support – you’ll also find ISOFIX child seat mounting points, providing safety as well as support for the whole family. Climate control can bring the cabin to your desired temperature before you even enter your car, and the luggage compartments add to the impressive Audi e-tron boot space of 605 litres.
Taking a closer look at some of the e-tron’s accessories; the infomedia system’s display and touchscreen are easy to navigate, and the sound system is made up of 10 speakers. There are two USB ports in the rear, so there won’t be any need for the kids to squabble over who gets to charge their phone.
Audi e-tron exterior
The look of the Audi e-tron is definitely one of its highlights, providing a subtle EV twist to the classic Audi SUV shape. The air suspension keeps your drive smooth no matter the speed bumps or potholes, and the 360-view parking camera makes slipping into smaller spaces easier – this is partly why we felt we could include the Audi e-tron on our list of the top electric cars for city driving. Despite being bigger (in both size and price tag) than the other entries on our list, the Audi e-tron’s features mean that it could easily lead a dual life: a slick city street commuter, and a countryside carriage for the family.
Audi e-tron key features

Audi e-tron FAQs
Can the Audi e-tron use a Tesla supercharger?
Currently, Teslas are the only vehicles able to use the Tesla supercharger. Your Audi e-tron will come with its own Type 2 and CCS chargers which can be used across all EV charging networks.
Does the Audi e-tron have a heated steering wheel?
As well as progressive steering and lane departure warning, another quality aspect of the Audi e-tron is that a heated steering wheel is included as standard. Say goodbye to cold hands on winter mornings.
Is the Audi e-tron self-driving?
While not fully self-driving, the Audi e-tron comes with many features that improve and assist with the driving experience. This includes Audi pre sense, which will alert the driver that they need to press the brakes, and eventually begin braking for you, if it senses that you’re approaching an object too quickly. There is also the lane departure warning, and 360-degree parking cameras.
How big is the Audi e-tron?
The Audi e-tron is classified as a large SUV, and with that size comes a variety of benefits. It can comfortably seat four adults and have room to spare, and tow a trailer of up to 1,800kg. Its size may be off-putting to city-dwellers that need something a bit smaller, but for a growing family, this car has enough space to accommodate everyone.
How fast is the Audi e-tron?
The 55 model provides sports car speed and can get you moving from 0-60mph in six seconds. Its top speed is 125mph, which is great for a car of this size, despite a slim chance of ever needing to put your foot down quite this hard.
How much does it cost to charge an Audi e-tron?
Depending on how much time you have, fully charging your car can cost you anywhere between £7.60 and £29.90 (at the time of writing). This is across the full range of charging possibilities – from a slow off-peak charge at home, to a rapid public charging session.
