Citroën ë-C4
Citroën has been producing high-quality and reliable cars for over 100 years, and it has ensured that the same ethos has been passed into its EVs.
The Citroën ë-C4 is the perfect middle-of-the-road EV for drivers not sure what they’re looking for as they make the transition to electric. The ë-C4 is a cross between a traditional hatchback and an SUV, and its compact yet roomy design ensures power and practicality.
It comes loaded with tech as standard, including a large high-res touchscreen, and the Shine Edition trim has a few luxury additions such as adaptive cruise control, a head-up display and LED ambient lighting.
If you’re after a solid, stylistic electric car for everyday driving, you can’t really go wrong with the Citroën ë-C4.
Try the Citroën ë-C4 on an elmo subscription
The cost of a Citroën ë-C4 starts at £22,080, placing it among the most affordable EVs available. However, with deposits and depreciation, buying an ë-C4 may put you off making the switch.
With an electric car subscription through elmo, you can get all the benefits of driving an electric car with none of the hefty upfront costs. With one affordable monthly payment, a subscription provides you with everything you need to drive your very own EV.

Citroën ë-C4 range and charging info
With a 165-mile real-world range, the Citroën ë-C4 won’t necessarily get you the furthest in between charges, but for a low-cost option, you’ll struggle to find much better. That being said, a 165-mile range is more than enough to get you to work and back again, and run errands on the weekend. The only time you may get frustrated is if you regularly spend time driving long distances, but even then, if you have a charge point installed at home you shouldn’t need to worry too much.
When the time comes to charge your Citroën ë-C4, it uses a Type 2 and CCS connection. At 3kW it’ll take around 17 hours to fully charge, but with a 100kW rapid charge, charging will take as little as 30 minutes. So, if you’re out on the road and the need to charge arises, you should be back behind the wheel in less time than it takes to grab a bite to eat.
Citroën ë-C4 interiors
Don’t let the low price point fool you: the Citroën ë-C4 has plenty of features to help make the drive easier, more comfortable and far more enjoyable.
Including a 10” high-resolution touchscreen infotainment centre, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, six speakers and keyless entry and start, there’s plenty of tech to be found. It’s also spacious, meaning there’s loads of room for the family and your luggage, in part thanks to the 380L boot with additional under-boot storage for cables.
Citroën ë-C4 exterior
Appearance-wise, the Citroën ë-C4 doesn’t attempt to reinvent the wheel – it has a lot in common with the petrol version, refining what has worked for the C4 over the past two decades.
Because the e-C4 combines the space of an SUV with the practicality of a hatchback it has a higher driving position and a Coupe-like roof. Thanks to progressive hydraulic cushion suspension it offers a glass-smooth drive which is comparable to cars that cost a lot more. It has extremely light power steering, so handling is a breeze, making it a great car for navigating busy city streets.
Citroën ë-C4 key features
Even though the Citroën e-C4 has a far more affordable price tag than some of its premium cousins, it still has plenty of features that ensure it provides a little extra luxury.
- Thanks to its SUV influence, it has a ton of interior space
- A heated steering wheel ensures maximum comfort even on icy mornings
- A whisper-quiet driving experience
- Dual-zone climate control
- Keyless entry for easy access
