Emergency Guide: What to do in a Breakdown or Accident

Road Accidents

If you’re been in an accident on the road, here’s what to do:

1. Be safe

Make sure that you (and any passengers and/or other members of the public) are safe and then that the vehicle is secure.

2. Gather information

Following an incident, please collect the information below and send it to hello@elmodrive.com as soon as possible. We will then submit it to our insurer, NIG.

The 3rd party drivers details (if applicable):

  • Full name
  • Contact number
  • Email address
  • Address
  • Vehicle make/model and Registration number
  • Insurance details

Incident Details

  • The exact location of the incident
  • Photos of the car(s) and location
  • Your statement of what happened

Witness Details

  • Full name
  • Contact number
  • Email address
  • Address

N.B. You should not admit any fault or make any offers or promises etc. to any third party that was involved without first speaking to your insurance provider (see below).

3. Report the accident

Within Office Hours (Mon-Fri: 9am-5pm)

You should report the incident to us as soon as you can on on hello@elmodrive.com or 020 3488 4500. We will work with our insurer to advise you what to do next.

Outside of Office Hours

If the accident has occurred outside of regular office hours, please contact our insurer, NIG, directly on 0800 400655. They are available 24/7 and will be able to assist with incident and recovery process as required. You’ll need to quote our fleet policy number 006462803.

Breakdowns

1. Be safe

Make sure that you (and any passengers and/or other members of the public) are safe and then that the vehicle is secure.

2. Contact your designated breakdown provider

Our breakdown providers are available to assist 24/7. Just call the provider linked with your car and quote the vehicle’s licence plate. Depending on the circumstances, your vehicle will be fixed on the roadside or towed to the nearest appropriate garage or to your home.

If you are unsure who your provider is, please contact us directly.

3. Let us know

Email us on hello@elmodrive.com or call us on 020 3488 4500, so we can support you as required.

Warning Lights

Mechanically speaking, electric cars are quite simple. So, if your car will still drive, even though a warning light is displayed, your best option is to continue to your destination.

Once you’re safely at your destination, please email us (with a photo of the problem, if possible) on hello@elmodrive.com or call us on 020 3488 4500.

We will work with you to figure out the nature of the problem and then organise for the problem to be resolved as soon as possible.
